Quokka's on Rotto!

People in Australia like to shorten the names of places - usually with an 'o' at the end. So 'Fremantle' is 'Freo' and Rottnest Island is 'Rotto' ...



After Fremantle, we spent a night and 2 days on the Island. Named 'Rottnest' by Willem de Vlamingh as it was a nest of rats - but actually the 'rats' are lief little kangaroo things called a Quokka.

They are supposed to be hard to find - but we saw many of them.
